Adjunct Associate Professor
Nicola Botta is a senior scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and, since 2019, adjunct associate professor in the FP unit at the CSE Department, Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
He applies type theory, generic programming and program verification to climate science. He has active collaborations with N. Brede and T. Richter (University of Potsdam), P. Jansson and T. Fülöp (Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden). He is a developer of IdrisLibs and of the verified framework for sequential decision problems IdrisLibs/SequentialDecisionProblems. He has worked on agent-based models of exchange economies with A. Mandel (CES, Paris, France) and on numerical methods for partial differential equations with R. Klein (FU Berlin, Germany). He received his PhD from the Department of Engineering at ETH Zürich.
